DEO, Dominion Hope Receives AGA Safety Awards

The American Gas Association has recognized Dominion East Ohio and Dominion for outstanding employee safety performance in 2013. Dominion officials received the national safety awards this week during the association’s annual conference in Pittsburgh.

Dominion East Ohio earned a 2013 AGA Safety Achievement Award for excellence in employee safety by achieving the lowest DART (Days Away/Restricted Time) rate for companies of the same size and type. DEO previously won this award in 2011.

“Our employees’ conscientious commitment to their personal safety – and the safety of our coworkers, customers and general public – helped make 2013 the most successful safety year in Dominion East Ohio’s 115-year history,” noted Scott Miller, vice president and general manager.

“Our successful Safety program is due, in large part, to our strong working relationship with Dominion East Ohio,” said Michael Coleman, executive president-Gas Workers Union Local G555. “However, most of the credit for this award goes to the utility workers in the field and at the shops that operate our system and promote safe work conditions on a daily basis.”

Dominion Hope received a 2013 Safety Achievement Award in fleet safety for experiencing the lowest motor
vehicle accident rate for companies of its type.
